An Event Titled "From Independence to a Global Vision: Azerbaijan" Held in Bucharest

An event titled 'From Independence to a Global Vision: Azerbaijan' was held at the Romanian-American University, organized at the initiative of ADA University students Narmin Ahmadova and Gulay Gurbanova, who are currently studying there as part of an exchange program.

The purpose of the event was to introduce Azerbaijan’s historical development path, national and cultural values, and modern achievements to international students and the academic community.

The event was attended by the academic staff and students of the Romanian-American University, as well as other guests. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Romania was represented by Counselor Fakhri Karimli.

The event began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Romania. This was followed by an opening video showcasing Azerbaijan’s history, culture, national identity, and modern development.

In his opening speech, Counselor Fakhri Karimli spoke about the importance of Azerbaijan–Romania relations and the role of youth in international cooperation. He also emphasized that the Romanian-American University is not only an educational institution for students, but also a home and an environment for personal and academic development.

Subsequently, the Vice-Rector of the university, Ph.D. Habil. Professor Tudor Edu, delivered a speech highlighting that such events make a significant contribution to the development of intercultural dialogue and international friendship relations.

Within the framework of the event, participants were informed about Azerbaijan’s statehood history, the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic established in 1918, and the policies implemented by National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the direction of preserving independence and state-building. A video dedicated to Heydar Aliyev’s life and activities was also presented.

Additionally, attention was drawn to Azerbaijan’s economic development under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, its participation in international projects, and its hosting of global events such as COP29, Formula 1 races, and the Eurovision Song Contest.

The program continued with speeches by Erasmus students from various countries, emphasizing the importance of friendship and cultural relations among peoples.

The event concluded with the words of National Leader Heydar Aliyev: “I have always been proud, and today I am also proud that I am Azerbaijani.”
