Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania on the so-called “elections” held on 13 September 2015 date in the separatist region of Nagorno-Karabakh

On 14 September 2015 date the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania made the following Statement regarding the so-called “elections” to the “self-governing bodies” of the puppet separatist regime in the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan held on 13 September 2015:

the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers illegitime the legal framework under which has been organized the so-called “elections” on September 13, 2015 in the separatist region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates its principled position, which is consistently asserted, of non-recognition of the independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirms its support to the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group, its co-chairs and their efforts towards facilitation of the settlement of the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh region and encourages the parties to intensify their efforts in the pursuit of a negotiated, peaceful and lasting resolution.
