In Iași, Romania, the special edition of the scientific journal POLIS, dedicated to Azerbaijan, was presented

On October 1, at the “Petre Andrei” University of Iași, the special edition of the scientific journal POLIS, dedicated to the history, culture, and politics of Azerbaijan, was presented.

In a video message addressed to the participants, the President of the Senate of the Romanian Parliament, Mircea Abrudean, congratulated the appearance of this special issue, emphasizing that, due to its strategic position between Europe and Asia, its energy resources, and its role in the architecture of regional security amid today’s dynamic global processes, Azerbaijan represents a key country in the region. He also noted that, beyond its academic value, the journal offers students, researchers, and readers a unique opportunity to become acquainted with the particularities of this region.

A video message was also addressed to the participants by Senator Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș, a member of the Romania–Azerbaijan parliamentary friendship group. In his message, the senator recalled his official visit to Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region in August this year and expressed his belief that relations between Romania and Azerbaijan will serve as an economic bridge between Asia and Europe. The senator also highlighted the importance of close cooperation between the two countries for the realization of international transport and energy projects in the region.

The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Romania, Gudsi Osmanov, noted in his speech that the special issue of the journal dedicated to Azerbaijan includes articles written by young Azerbaijani doctoral students on various current topics related to the country. The ambassador expressed gratitude to the university leadership and to the team that worked on the journal, inviting them to collaborate with universities in Azerbaijan, especially with the University of Karabakh.

Professor Sabin Drăgulin, university lecturer and executive director of the journal POLIS, emphasized in his remarks that the journal contributes to intercultural dialogue. He pointed out that the published articles, dedicated to various aspects of Azerbaijan’s politics, history, and culture, are of great value to Romanian readers, including researchers interested in the region.

The event was attended by university faculty and students, representatives of the Iași Prefecture administration, public figures, journalists, and representatives of other higher education institutions in the city.
