Azerbaijani Delegation Discusses Media and Legal Cooperation at the Romanian Senate

Members of the Azerbaijani delegation visiting Romania met with senators at the Romanian Senate. The meeting included Ismat Sattarov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Audiovisual Council; Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency; Vugar Aliyev, Chairman of AZERTAC; and Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Romania, Gudsi Osmanov.

Discussions focused on strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, institutional dialogue, media and legal experience exchange, as well as information security and combating disinformation.

Ismat Sattarov presented Azerbaijan’s audiovisual policy, media regulatory experience, and recent reforms, emphasizing efforts to enhance transparency, digital broadcasting, and independence of public media. Romanian officials shared their legislative practices in media and law, highlighting compliance with EU standards in audiovisual regulation, press freedom, and combating disinformation.

Vugar Aliyev spoke about Azerbaijan’s international media cooperation projects and information security initiatives, noting that collaboration with Romania contributes to regional media cooperation and mutual trust. Ahmad Ismayilov discussed media development and legislative reforms to combat disinformation, proposing joint training programs and media initiatives between the two countries.

Ambassador Gudsi Osmanov stressed that strategic partnership extends beyond energy and transport to the information and communication sector, strengthening the humanitarian and institutional foundations of Azerbaijan-Romania relations.

Senator Cristian-Augustin Nikulescu-Tagarlaș highlighted recent high-level visits, parliamentary friendship groups, peace initiatives in the South Caucasus, media diplomacy, and the importance of responsible information. He emphasized that Azerbaijan-Romania cooperation in media and law will reinforce strategic ties between the EU and the South Caucasus.

The Azerbaijani delegation also attended a plenary session of the Romanian Senate to learn about legislative procedures, debates, and decision-making mechanisms.
