Azerbaijan and Romania Discuss Expansion of Cooperation in the Audiovisual Sector
The Azerbaijani delegation met with Valentin-Aleksandru Jukan, Vice-President and Acting President of Romania’s National Audiovisual Council, at the Council’s headquarters. The meeting was attended by Ismat Sattarov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Audiovisual Council; Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency; Vugar Aliyev, Chairman of AZERTAC; Gudsi Osmanov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Romania; and other officials.
During the meeting, the current state and future directions of audiovisual media cooperation between Azerbaijan and Romania were discussed. Valentin-Aleksandru Jukan highlighted Romania’s priorities in information security, digital transformation, and training programs for young journalists, noting that experience exchange with Azerbaijan would be mutually beneficial.
He also provided detailed information on Romania’s Digital Alert System (DAS), which is integrated into the country’s television and radio networks to deliver real-time emergency, disaster, and public safety notifications to the population. The DAS system strengthens the resilience of the national broadcast network and automates digital security and public alert mechanisms.
Vugar Aliyev spoke about Azerbaijan’s recent media reforms, modernization of television and digital broadcasting systems, and integration into international media platforms, noting that joint projects with Romania open new opportunities in this area.
Ismat Sattarov and Ahmad Ismayilov emphasized the importance of aligning audiovisual regulation with international standards, improving professional criteria in TV and radio broadcasting, and exchanging experiences between public media institutions.
Ambassador Gudsi Osmanov highlighted that strategic partnership between the two countries is also reflected in the information and media sector, stressing that cooperation should extend beyond information exchange to digital broadcasting, content production, and cultural diplomacy initiatives.
The sides exchanged views on media regulation, broadcasting ethics, combating disinformation, and developing the audiovisual production market.
