Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Meets Romania’s Minister of Justice

An Azerbaijani delegation led by Kamran Aliyev, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who is on an official visit to Romania, met with Romania’s Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, on November 24.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the high level of the existing strategic partnership between the two countries, the development of legal cooperation, and other issues of mutual interest.

Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and Romania have traditionally been based on friendship, mutual trust, and strategic partnership, recalling the official visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, to Bucharest in 2022. He highlighted the important role played by President Ilham Aliyev in shaping these relations. Addressing issues of cooperation in the legal field, the Prosecutor General spoke about ensuring participation in mutual exchange programs for young professionals between the two countries, as well as cooperation in combating transnational crime, including corruption, illicit drug trafficking, money laundering, and cybercrime.

Romania’s Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, noted Romania’s continued support for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as shared interests in the fields of energy and transport projects. The Minister of Justice emphasized that Romania supports Azerbaijan’s constructive dialogue with the European Union and the preservation of a stable environment in the South Caucasus, noting that this is of great importance for investment and security in the region.

The parties agreed to continue regular dialogue and to develop concrete projects in areas of mutual interest.
