Commemoration event dedicated to the January 20 tragedy held in Romania
A commemoration ceremony dedicated to the 36th anniversary of the January 20 tragedy was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Bucharest, Romania.
The event began with the playing of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, followed by a minute of silence to honor the memory of the January 20 martyrs and all the sons and daughters of Azerbaijan who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of our homeland.
Opening the event, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Romania, H.E. Qudsi Osmanov, touched upon the historical chronicle of the 1980s and 90s. He stated that the Azerbaijani people demonstrated their resolve in protest against the discrimination they faced, refused to bow down to the bloody crimes committed against them, and achieved sovereignty and independence through national unity.
The Ambassador also spoke about the services of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in conveying the truths of January 20 to the world. He emphasized that the victory won in the 44-day Patriotic War under the leadership of President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev is the result of our unshakable will.
As part of the event, a documentary film dedicated to the events of "Bloody January" was screened for the participants. A photo exhibition was also organized at the diplomatic mission, and a memorial meal (ehsan) was served to the guests.
