Azerbaijan participated as a special guest in the Third Annual Forum of the Parliamentary Committees on Legal Affairs of Romania, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, and Albania, held in the town of Moisei, Maramureș region of Romania. This year’s Forum was dedicated to the theme “The Rule of Law as the Foundation of European Integration and the Protection of Fundamental Rights.”
Within the framework of the event, a photo exhibition dedicated to Azerbaijani architecture was organized in connection with the declaration of 2026 as the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” in Azerbaijan. The photographs showcased the dynamic development of Azerbaijan’s urban environment and architectural landscape, with a particular focus on the Karabakh region, highlighting examples of modern urban transformation. At the same time, the exhibition also drew attention to the landmine problem in Azerbaijan. The event was attended by Members of Parliament and Senators from Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, and Albania, representatives of Romania’s Prosecutor General’s Office and High Court, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Romania, as well as legal professionals and public and political figures.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Gudsi Osmanov highlighted the relations between Azerbaijan and Romania, referring to ongoing projects between the two countries, as well as planned mutual visits and events. The Ambassador recalled that 2026 has been declared the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” in Azerbaijan and noted that the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum will be held in Baku in May of the same year. He emphasized the important role of international events hosted by Azerbaijan in strengthening regional cooperation and developing political, economic, and cultural ties between countries. Drawing attention to the large-scale restoration and reconstruction efforts being carried out in Azerbaijan, particularly in the Karabakh region, based on modern urban planning principles, the Ambassador noted that the historic Victory achieved by Azerbaijan in the 44-day Patriotic War has created favorable and reliable conditions for the implementation of internationally significant logistics and transport projects, contributing to peace and stability in the region.
At the opening of the exhibition, Romanian Senator Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș, Deputy Chairman of the parliamentary faction of the ruling National Liberal Party (PNL), an active member of Romania’s delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and a member of the Romania–Azerbaijan parliamentary friendship group, also delivered a speech.
