An official reception was held in Bucharest to mark the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan

An official reception dedicated to May 28 – Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been held in Bucharest, Romania, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Romania.

The reception was attended by members of the Romanian parliament, government representatives, representatives of the diplomatic corps, business circles, the academic community, and members of the Azerbaijani community.

Within the framework of the event, a special photo exhibition dedicated to Azerbaijani statehood, the modern development of the country, the restoration of Karabakh and East Zangezur, as well as Azerbaijan–Romania relations was organized. Along with the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Romania, materials prepared by "Socar Petroleum S.A.", a subsidiary of SOCAR in Romania, were also displayed at the exhibition. Information on Azerbaijan's energy projects, the Southern Gas Corridor, green energy initiatives, and the Middle Corridor was presented.

Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Romania Gudsi Osmanov spoke about the history of Azerbaijan's independence, the state-building process, and the achievements made by the country in recent years. It was emphasized that Azerbaijan has become one of the leading political and economic centers of the region and plays an important role in Europe's energy security. It was brought to attention that the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Romania is successfully developing in the fields of energy, transport, logistics, and humanitarian areas. Noting that the peace brought by Azerbaijan to the South Caucasus region is crucial for the entire region, the Ambassador stated that initiatives such as the Southern Gas Corridor, green energy projects, and the Middle Corridor are of great importance not only for the region but for Europe as a whole.

The President of the Romanian Senate, Mircea Abrudean, noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Romania are at a high level. He stated that important projects are being implemented between the two countries in the fields of energy security, cooperation in the Black Sea region, and transport connectivity. It was emphasized that the Romanian side is interested in expanding strategic cooperation with Azerbaijan.

State Adviser to the Romanian Presidential Administration Vlad Ionescu, Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs of Romania for Strategic Affairs Ana Cristina Tinca, and Head of the Azerbaijan–Romania Interparliamentary Friendship Group Marian Neacșu stated that the political dialogue formed between Azerbaijan and Romania is of important significance for the region.

Former President of Romania Emil Constantinescu shared his memories regarding the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and emphasized that his statehood policy holds strategic importance for the region. He assessed Azerbaijan as one of the main strategic actors in the South Caucasus and expressed confidence that relations between Baku and Bucharest will develop even further in the future.

In the speeches, Azerbaijan was evaluated as a reliable partner for Europe. It was noted that cooperation in the energy and transport sectors has expanded even further in recent years, with green energy and the Middle Corridor projects holding strategic importance.

The evening featured Azerbaijani music performances, a showcase of traditional Azerbaijani cuisine, and video presentations highlighting the country's rich tourism potential.
